Alex Cox

Liverpool commie

Okay, working for the director Alex (Repo-Man, Sid and Nancy) Cox in the middle of the desert summer was not easy. He wanted a grave-yard for airplanes as a location. Miles of old fighter jets and B-52s as far as the eye can see.

They don't rust in the desert, so this is where they live out their retirement years. So I have to convince the air force, as in U.S.A.F., to let us film there, okay it was before 9-11, but still. I had to make up a company name and fabricate fake business cards because Alex's production company at the time was called "Commies from Mars". This was his official business card.

Can you imagine calling the U.S.A.F. and saying you are "a young woman with Commies from Mars"? It didn't work very well. So I did what I had to do. Smiled. Lied. Often.

Tidbit: The head peering over Al's shoulder is none other than Chris Wagganer.
