sorry you had to be killed for christmas

a magnificent three-story tall evergreen was put to death recently. it is on view for the next several weeks in front of the arch at washington square park, where you can watch its beauty slowly desiccate. some shiny christmas balls hanging from the arch would have sufficed for me.

i wonder how come we get one in Washington Square now and not just Rockefeller center. Lucky us. I don't know if the bums can handle it. It does seem kind of sad for that tree that's older than you and I put together nnow spends its days in washington Square. What am I talking about? I'd love to be an Xmas tree in Washington Square (if I was a tree...but that's the new yorker tawking!)
